Hi,

Just love both the videos!! I am Maarten and I live in Delhi at the moment where I dj and i am starting my clubnight in Delhi next month. The theme for the first night is 80's disco etc, we are going to have 4 dancers on stages dressed like in the videos and doing aerobic excercises etc. We also want to have this in the vjing so here comes my questions I haven't been able to find videos like this, well lots on youtube but not the actual file for download.
I was wondering if you can help by perhaps giving some sites. I was also wondering if it's somehow possible to get these 2 videos from you.

Many thanks,

Maarten

This is a interesting concept of media Immentiacy. I hadn't thought of the ideas your presented. However my big interest is in DRM and related issues. The studios and, and other copywriter holders, be it RIAA, or MPEAA are shoving DRM down our collective throats, claiming they are losing money. I fear bigger issues such as consmer loss of fair use rights and hardware crippled, not by manufactures, but by laws making them cripple their hardware so they can sell it. If you would like to read more of my concerns please see my blog. You as a college student should be extremely worried about the changes coming in the next few years, as they will affect the way you use your media as you get older.

There's the instant gratification aspect, no doubt, but I like to take this further into considerations of psychosocial implications. I view the psychological/psychosocial immediacy of media to have been conceived only once the temporal immediacy of the Internet was paired with the physical, in-your-pocket immediacy of portable wireless devices. It's merely knowing that we (the privileged) can access anything, anytime, and from anywhere, that has changed us. Sure, it's great to know that walking down the street you can message your friends on Facebook ("to Facebook" is entering common usage, just as "to Google" has). On a more significant scale, however, we know that if something goes down somewhere in the world, someone is there recording it with a cell phone camera, and the grainy, shaky video will be uploaded to YouTube (and snagged by media outlets) in no time. And I'm sure governments, especially the oppressive ones, are aware of this. There is a message, therefore, in this immediacy, and it can be used as a powerful agent for political change.

I agree with you on this subject. I am a senior undergraduate student and am currently working on my capstone project. I am looking at the disparity that occurs in the media when adults go missing. I am looking for scholarly articles to help me with my body of literature. Do you have any sources that you would or could share with me. I would appreciate any information that you might have. I have been searching for this information and have found several blogs and newspaper articles, but so far not much scholarly done. Thank you. Lorie Conkling

Fables of the Green Forest was a great show, but as I watched it as a kid, I always suspected it was for adults; it could be truly scary! The fox and his mother used to really unnerve me. Other than that, I remeber the detailed story lines.

As I later found out the the show was based on books written about 100 years ago, so I have to assume the world wasn't as "barney" as it is today - kinda glad of that myself.

Hi Puck,

I read a YouTube post from you enquiring about a Christmas "Season's Greetings" bumber aired on CFCF-12 since the 70's or early 80's, showing winter scenes.

If you're talking about the one with orchestra and choir, then yeah I'd love to find that one too... it's an otherworldly arrangement!

The one thing I can tell you about that is the melody is from a 15th century French Christmas carol called "Entre le boeuf et l'ane gris". I would very much like to find the particular performance used in that vignette though.

Please let me know if you find anything out about that song.

Cheers,
- Brian

Well, my take on the video is that it showcases how the 'democratization' of the arts...may not be such a good idea when mixed with mass media. Have we not learned anything in this post Yoko Ono world!?
