Any excuse for on-air pop psychology

Seriously, how fucking slow of a news day must it have been to bring in a shrink to discuss a fake viral video? You know the one I’m referring to, the bride flipping out over her hair that I posted yesterday. So some CBS affiliate does a spot on it:

Some “simple tips” from Dr. Holly Phillips:

First, stop and breathe. Breathe in on a count of five—a slow count—and then breathe out to a count of ten.

Second, take an inventory of where you’re holding tension within your own body. Start with your head and move all the way down to your toes … You might be surprised at what you’ll find.

Of course, what was newsworthy last night was not the original video, but rather its being taken seriously and reported on, and having since been shown to be a viral marketing ploy.
